What is Iffy?
Iffy is a crowdsourced public safety app. Iffy utilizes the simple question ‘feeling safe?’ This can be answered in two ways;
- activating the green button ‘yes, I’m feeling safe’
- or activating the red button ‘no, I’m not feeling safe’.
How does it work?
When a button is activated, this information is positioned on a map using GPS technology. Green buttons let us know people feel safe, red buttons let us know people feel unsafe. In the case of red button activation, security or protection services are alerted and the area investigated. Additionally, when a red button is activated, push notifications are sent to other Iffy users in the vicinity asking ‘feeling safe?’ This helps to localize and characterize the situation, improving response time.
Iffy is anonymous, so no personal information is collected or stored.
Who uses Iffy and who has access to the information generated?
Iffy is aimed at every person with a smartphone that wants to help improve public safety within the community. The Iffy app logs all button activations, where ever and whenever they occur within a monitored location. Businesses can access button activations and monitor when they occur on their property. This can help the business respond rapidly to any situation either using their staff, security or law enforcement.
